The head of the World Health Organization (WHO) has urgently called for the protection of medical workers and facilities in Sudan. This appeal follows a wave of verified attacks on the country's health system.
WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus stated the agency has confirmed 198 separate attacks on health care. These incidents have resulted in 1,735 deaths among health workers and patients.
An additional 438 people were wounded in the assaults, according to the verified data. The ongoing conflict in Sudan continues to directly threaten medical services.
Tedros did not specify which parties in the conflict were responsible. He directed his appeal broadly to all involved groups to respect international law and safeguard health infrastructure.
