Conservative Groups Back SCORE Act in Push for College Sports Reform

More than 20 influential conservative groups announced their support for new college sports legislation on Tuesday. They endorsed the "Standardizing College Oversight of Revenues and Earnings Act," or SCORE Act, in a letter obtained by Fox News Digital. The bill aims to reform the current system governing student athlete pay, known as Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL). NIL rules allow college athletes to earn money from sponsorships and endorsements. This unified support from conservative organizations increases political pressure on Congress. Lawmakers are currently debating several competing proposals to establish a single national NIL standard, which would override varying state laws. The SCORE Act, introduced by Republican legislators, proposes that colleges and conferences directly manage NIL agreements. This approach contrasts with other bills that would grant more oversight authority to the NCAA, the national governing body for college athletics.
