FEMA Reverses Decision, Will Not Reinstate Employees Who Criticized Trump

The U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has decided not to reinstate four employees it suspended last summer. The workers were suspended after signing a letter that was critical of former President Donald Trump. In July, the employees signed a letter opposing the use of federal law enforcement personnel in Portland, Oregon. The letter argued the actions damaged FEMA's reputation for neutrality. Last week, agency officials initially told the employees they could return to work. However, FEMA quickly reversed that decision. The employees have now been formally notified they will not get their jobs back. A FEMA spokesperson stated the reversal followed a "final legal review." The agency maintains the original suspensions were lawful and not related to free speech, but to violating internal policies.
