A man named Sahand told the BBC World Service that he is secretly sending satellite internet terminals into Iran. He says the devices help show “the real picture” of the country. The smuggling network operates to bypass the Iranian government’s internet shutdowns. Starlink, a satellite-based internet service, provides a way for people inside Iran to access uncensored information. The terminals are small and can be hidden during transport. Sahand did not reveal specific smuggling routes or the number of devices sent.
