Unprecedented Flooding Submerges Southern Thai City of Hat Yai

The city of Hat Yai in southern Thailand is accustomed to seasonal floods. However, residents recently faced a disaster of an entirely new scale. A catastrophic flood event, described by experts as a one-in-300-year occurrence, overwhelmed the city. Longtime resident Krongkarn Jantarasavad reported that the severity of the flooding was inconceivable compared to normal seasonal patterns.
