A seven-year-old girl from Soweto was hospitalized after drinking E.coli bacteria from her home tap.
Nonjabulo Sabatha of Dube, Soweto, fell ill from contaminated water. Her mother, Sanelisiwe Sabatha, now spends roughly 2,820 South African Rand monthly on bottled water for the family.
The incident highlights ongoing water safety concerns in the area. E.coli, a type of bacteria found in feces, can cause severe stomach cramps, diarrhea, and vomiting.
