A security guard's simple act of kindness towards a persistent black cat has become a lasting online sensation in Japan. The story of the guard and the cat, named Ken-chan, continues to touch people's hearts.
Ken-chan first visited the Onomichi City Museum in 2017. He arrived during a special exhibition about cats. The feline tried to enter the building but was gently stopped by security guard Sadao Umayahara.
Instead of turning the cat away, Umayahara patiently bent down to block its path. Ken-chan seemed to enjoy this gentle interaction. Their daily meetings formed a close bond that museum visitors loved.
Ken-chan passed away last year, but the museum has honored his memory. The story of his friendship with the guard continues to move countless people online, celebrating a small moment of compassion.
