Chinese AI company DeepSeek has launched the first open-source model capable of performing at a gold medal level on the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO). The Hangzhou-based startup announced the release on Thursday.
The new model, named DeepSeek-Math-V2, is now available to the public. It has been published on developer platforms Hugging Face and GitHub. The model uses a permissive license, allowing developers to freely use and adapt the technology.
The IMO is a prestigious annual competition for top high school mathematicians. It has been held since 1959 and is widely considered the world's toughest math contest.
