Adnan Bilen, known as Adiman, entered prison unable to read or write his own name. He will leave it as the published author of 11 books in the Kurdish language.
His remarkable journey began behind bars. With no formal education, he used his time in detention to teach himself literacy. He then dedicated his new skills to writing in Kurdish.
"At the beginning, I could not even write my own name," Adiman stated. "But now I have taken on a responsibility for the Kurdish language. For me, every paragraph in Kurdish is an act of resistance."
His works, written entirely during his incarceration, contribute significantly to Kurdish literature. The story highlights a personal transformation that also carries broader cultural meaning.
