bianet editor Ayşegül Başar has won the Metin Göktepe Journalism Award.
She was honored for her report titled, "Flag provocation case collapses in court: 'Flag lowering' claims were not asked to D.K., who was tortured at the Nusaybin border."
The award is named for Metin Göktepe, a journalist killed while in police custody in 1996.
At the award ceremony, Başar stated, "We stubbornly continue to do journalism despite heavy pressure and impossibilities."
Her winning investigation revealed that key allegations were not presented in a specific court case. The report centered on a defendant, identified as D.K., who alleged torture.
