Japanese retail company Muji is accelerating its global strategy by opening its first flagship stores in Thailand and Vietnam. This move is part of the brand's increased focus on "localization," a strategy that tailors its products and store experiences to specific regional markets. The new flagship store in Bangkok, Thailand, opened on September 13. A second flagship is scheduled to open in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, on September 27. These locations will offer Muji's full range of household goods, clothing, and food items. A key part of this expansion involves creating products that reflect local cultures and needs. For example, the Vietnam store will feature items made from local materials like lotus fiber and water hyacinth. This approach helps the brand connect more deeply with new customers. Muji's parent company, Ryohin Keikaku Co., is pursuing this strategy to boost its international business. The company aims to open more than 100 new stores annually, with a significant focus on Southeast Asia and Europe. This expansion underscores Muji's commitment to growing its presence outside of Japan.
