Windshield Wipers Can Fail: Ford Recalls 423,000 Vehicles
Ford is recalling nearly 423,000 vehicles in the United States. The reason is a dangerous defect with the windshield wipers. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), a federal safety agency, announced the recall. It states the vehicles' windshield wiper arms can break. If the wiper arms break, the wipers will not work. This failure can severely reduce a driver's ability to see the road, especially in rain or snow. The loss of visibility significantly increases the risk of a crash. The recall affects certain 2021-2023 Ford Bronco Sport and Escape models. Ford will notify registered owners of these vehicles by mail starting July 10. Owners will be instructed to take their vehicle to a Ford dealer. The dealer will inspect and, if necessary, replace both front wiper arms at no cost.
