Store Receipt Proves Utah Man's Innocence in Distant Murder Case

A Utah man used a store receipt to prove he could not have committed a murder in Colorado, over 500 miles away. Police had considered him a person of interest in the killing of Kristil Krug. Krug, a married mother of three, was found murdered in her garage in Colorado. Weeks before her death, she had reported threatening messages to police. She believed a former boyfriend was stalking her. This suspicion led investigators to the Utah man. However, he provided a time-stamped receipt from a store in Utah. The receipt showed he was making a purchase there at the exact time of the murder in Colorado. This evidence provided a solid alibi, and police have since stated he is no longer a suspect.
