Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has accused Russia of using deceptive diplomacy to prepare for further military occupation. He stated that Moscow's recent calls for a negotiated compromise are not sincere.
According to Zelenskyy, Russia's proposal has a hidden goal. It would require a full Ukrainian withdrawal from contested territories. He says this logic only benefits Russia.
A withdrawal would immediately reduce Russian battlefield losses. More critically, it would give Russian forces the strategic positions they need. Zelenskyy argues this would allow Russia to launch a new phase of occupation later.
The Ukrainian leader concluded that while the Russian position may seem logical, it is a demand for capitulation. He says accepting it would not bring peace, but only pave the way for more war.
