South Korean authorities are investigating recruitment posters that urged citizens to join the war in Ukraine. The posters, which appeared in the city of Seongnam, promised high pay and foreign citizenship for volunteers.
The government in Kyiv has rejected the advertisement. A Ukrainian official called it a "Russian hoax" designed to create trouble for South Korea.
The incident occurred as South Korea confirmed its first citizen death while fighting against Russian forces in Ukraine. Seoul maintains a policy of not providing lethal aid to Kyiv, though it has offered humanitarian support.
Police are now working to identify who created and displayed the posters.
