Jared Kushner is again a top peace negotiator for the Trump White House while also raising money for his private investment firm. The dual roles have revived concerns about conflicts of interest.
Kushner, who is former President Donald Trump's son-in-law, chose not to take an official government job after the 2024 election. He said he would focus on his private equity firm and pause fundraising while Trump was in office.
Since last summer, however, Kushner has taken on major diplomatic missions. He helped broker a Gaza ceasefire, steered Ukraine war talks, and worked on failed U.S.-Iran nuclear negotiations. He does all this as a private citizen with direct access to the president.
At the same time, Kushner has resumed seeking billions of dollars in investments for his firm from foreign governments.
