The Uganda Law Society (ULS) has filed a legal case to stop a deportation program from the United States. It calls the process both illegal and "dehumanising."
The ULS is acting together with the larger East African Law Society. Their challenge targets the forced removal of individuals from the U.S. and their subsequent transport to Uganda.
The legal societies argue the scheme violates fundamental rights. They did not specify the exact number of people affected.
The case seeks a court order to immediately halt these deportations. A hearing date has not yet been set.
