Pakistan has increased fuel prices for the next two weeks, citing rising global oil costs linked to the Middle East conflict.
Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik announced the hike on Friday. He stated that energy prices are surging worldwide because the war is disrupting supplies.
The price of petrol has risen by 4.53 Pakistani rupees per liter. High-speed diesel, crucial for transport and agriculture, increased by 8.14 rupees per liter.
The government reviews and sets fuel prices every two weeks. This adjustment is based on fluctuations in the international market and currency exchange rates.
The minister's statement directly connects the local price increase to the ongoing geopolitical tensions. This marks a continued financial strain on citizens in an already inflationary economy.
