Court Denies Bondi Attacker's Bid to Hide Family Identities

Lawyers for the alleged Bondi terrorist have lost a bid to suppress the identities of his family members. A judge denied the request for a 40-year secrecy order. Naveed Akram's legal team had argued that publishing the names and addresses of his mother, brother, and sister could risk their mental and physical safety. An interim order had been in place since early March. On Thursday, Judge Hugh Donnelly in the Downing Centre local court ended that temporary order. The decision came after a group of media organizations challenged the suppression bid. The ruling allows news outlets to publish the family members' names and their home and work addresses.
