Putin Sets Terms for End to Ukraine War

Russian President Vladimir Putin stated on Thursday that Moscow would cease its military offensive if Ukraine withdraws its forces from four regions claimed by Russia. He warned that if Kyiv refuses, the Russian military will take the territories by force.
The Russian army is currently advancing slowly in eastern Ukraine. Its forces are engaged in costly battles against Ukrainian troops, who are often outnumbered and have fewer weapons.
Separately, the United States has renewed its effort to end the nearly four-year war. Washington has proposed a new peace plan and hopes to finalize it during upcoming talks.
