China's embassy in Japan has advised its citizens to postpone travel plans. The warning cites a "significant" increase in unprovoked assaults and discrimination against Chinese citizens.
The embassy issued the security alert on social media. It reported a sharp rise in requests for help since July. According to the statement, several individuals have been "verbally abused, assaulted and injured for no reason."
This advisory comes at a time of heightened tensions between the two countries. Diplomatic relations are currently at their lowest level in years.
