The Olympic flame for the 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Games has started its long journey to Italy. The traditional lighting ceremony in Olympia, Greece, used a backup flame. Organizers took this step after bad weather disrupted the planned event.
The flame will now travel nearly 12,000 kilometers across Greece and Italy. A total of 10,001 torchbearers will carry it along the route. The relay will conclude at the opening ceremony in Milan’s San Siro stadium on February 6, 2026.
