He cited the country's treatment of a US government representative at this year's G20 meeting as the reason for this decision. Last weekend, President Trump chose not to send an American delegation to the summit hosted by South Africa.
He stated that his decision was due to the violent persecution of the country's white Afrikaner population. This is a claim that has been widely disputed.
