Hong Kong's $2.5 Billion Rail Project Unshaken by Fake Brick Scandal

A major overnight upgrade to Hong Kong's Tung Chung MTR line will happen this Sunday. The work is a key step before part of a costly new rail extension opens later this year. The MTR Corporation confirmed the plans on Wednesday. It also stated that a recent scandal involving counterfeit bricks has not impacted the massive HK$19.5 billion (US$2.5 billion) project. The full Tung Chung line extension remains scheduled to open in 2029. The signalling system upgrade is essential for the new section.
