Marburg Virus Outbreak in Ethiopia Claims Six Lives

Health officials in Ethiopia have confirmed six deaths from a Marburg virus outbreak. The country's state-run news agency reported the fatalities. Marburg virus disease is a severe and often fatal illness. It is in the same family as the Ebola virus. Symptoms include high fever, severe headache, and unexplained bleeding. The virus spreads to people from fruit bats and then spreads between humans through direct contact with infected bodily fluids. There are currently no approved vaccines or antiviral treatments for the virus.
