Divers Pull Bikes, Bottles, and Surprises from German Harbor
A volunteer diving team is cleaning up Eckernförde Harbor in northern Germany, pulling out everything from bicycles to bottles. The group hopes their work will inspire others to keep waterways clean.
A group of divers is cleaning up Eckernförde Harbor in northern Germany, removing items that do not belong in the water.
Thore Nilsson, a 32-year-old photographer, leads the effort with several volunteers. They dive regularly to collect trash and unusual objects from the harbor floor.
Nilsson says the group has found bicycles, bottles, and other unexpected items during their dives. He explains that protecting the water and keeping the harbor clean motivates him and his team to continue their work.
The divers hope their efforts will inspire others to think about what ends up in the ocean and local waterways.
