Asia's Travel Boom: Singapore and Indonesia Ink Major Deals to Lure Tourists from Australia and China

Singapore and Indonesia are rolling out new deals and airport upgrades to grab a bigger slice of the booming travel market, targeting tourists from Australia, Southeast Asia, and China.

The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) has signed a fresh partnership with Traveloka, a leading travel platform in Southeast Asia, to attract more visitors from the region and Australia. The agreement, announced yesterday, aims to drive the next phase of tourism growth for Singapore. Under the deal, Traveloka will promote Singapore travel packages and experiences to its users, while STB will provide support and resources to boost tourist arrivals and spending [201099].

Meanwhile, Indonesia is upgrading its aviation infrastructure to strengthen air links between ASEAN countries and China. State-owned airport operator PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia, which runs airports under the InJourney Airports brand, has announced a plan to promote six hub airports. These airports will serve as central points for international flights, making travel and trade faster and more efficient. The move supports Indonesia’s strategy to boost tourism and economic ties with China, and aims to reduce congestion at other airports while streamlining flight routes [200059].

In a separate development, Turkish Airlines is actively exploring new acquisition opportunities to expand its global network. The carrier is focusing on potential deals in Asia and South America, aiming to strengthen its presence in these fast-growing markets as part of its strategy to compete more effectively with major global carriers [201029].
