Hong Kong man jailed 2 months for urging Legco election boycott
A Hong Kong security guard has been sentenced to two months in prison for sharing a social media post that urged people to boycott last year’s Legislative Council election. Wong Wah-kwong, 63, pleaded guilty on Wednesday at West Kowloon Court to inciting others to skip the December poll. The election was the second held under a Beijing-imposed “patriots-only” electoral reform introduced in 2021. Wong admitted posting a Facebook message from fugitive activist Alan Keung Ka-wai on October 15, which called on Hongkongers to avoid voting.
