**China Southern Airlines buys 137 Airbus jets in $21B deal, leaving Boeing waiting**
Airbus won a major order for 137 A320neo jets from Chinese airlines, strengthening its lead over US rival Boeing in one of the world’s most competitive aviation markets. China Southern Airlines, a state-owned carrier based in Guangzhou, announced the deal Wednesday. The company will buy 102 of the aircraft, while its subsidiary Xiamen Airlines will acquire the remaining 35. The orders have a combined list price of $21 billion. The deal comes as Boeing continues to wait for a long-rumored order from Beijing.
