**"Slime" Sequel Loses the Laughs but Gains Stunning Animation**

culture sports technology
The new film in the "That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime" series is less funny than its predecessor but features breathtaking animation. The story follows Rimuru, a former salaryman reborn as a magical blob who becomes a demon lord. In this sequel, Rimuru and his group visit a luxury island resort at the invitation of the Celestial Emperor. Their vacation—filled with sightseeing, fishing, and partying—is interrupted by blasts of "nuclear magic" over their heads. They are told they are safe because the attacks target the undersea kingdom of Kaien. The plot thickens when bodyguard Gobta realizes they are being followed by Yura, a Kaien priestess who has fled with a sacred flute at the center of a power struggle. Despite a confusing cast of fairy-like characters, the film opens with a helpful explainer to introduce the main characters. While the humor is less silly than the 2023 original, the visual quality makes up for it.
