Beverley Martyn, the British folk singer known for her work with ex-husband John Martyn and her own acclaimed solo albums, has died at age 79. A statement from the family of the late John Martyn announced that she passed away peacefully at home on Monday. "Beverley was a remarkable woman of great inner strength," the statement read. "She was beautiful, intelligent, warm and kind." Martyn began her career in the 1960s, releasing star-studded singles before collaborating with John Martyn on several albums. After a long hiatus, she made a celebrated return with a 2014 comeback album.
