Man sets fire in Hong Kong Decathlon, injures employee
HONG KONG — Police arrested a man on suspicion of setting fire to clothing inside a Decathlon store in Kowloon Bay, injuring a staff member who tried to stop the blaze.
The incident happened at about 3pm at the Telford Plaza branch on Wai Yip Street. The suspect allegedly set fire to several shirts before fleeing the scene, according to police.
A 22-year-old male employee suffered minor burns to his hands while attempting to extinguish the flames. He was taken to United Christian Hospital in Kwun Tong for treatment. No other injuries were reported.
Authorities did not provide a motive for the attack. The investigation is ongoing.
