King Charles meets Trump at White House; Iran war divides allies
Britain’s King Charles arrived at the White House on Tuesday for a meeting with US President Donald Trump. The visit is part of a state visit meant to show unity between the two long-time allies.
But deep divisions over the Iran war shadowed the event.
King Charles and Queen Camilla were greeted by President Trump and first lady Melania Trump on the South Lawn. Hundreds of guests stood near the Washington Monument as cannons boomed.
Trump called it a “beautiful British day.” The visit marks the first state visit by a British monarch since 2011.
