Nobel Winner Hartmut Michel Takes Full-Time Post in China

German biochemist and Nobel laureate Hartmut Michel has accepted a full-time professorship at Jilin University in Changchun, northeastern China. The university announced the appointment last week. Michel, 77, shared the 1988 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his work on how photosynthesis works at the molecular level. He will join the university’s First Hospital as a key hire under its talent recruitment strategy. The university said Michel has already spoken with its leadership about his role.
