France, UK Propose Military Force for Strait of Hormuz
French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer will hold a video conference with European allies on Friday. They will discuss creating a multinational military force for the Strait of Hormuz.
The plan is to deploy the force after the war in Iran ends. Its goal would be to protect ships and guarantee safe passage through the narrow waterway.
The Strait of Hormuz is a crucial global shipping route. A significant portion of the world's seaborne oil passes through it.
The leaders will host the talks from the Elysée Palace in Paris.
