Zelenskyy: Sanctions Must Stay After Major Russian Attack

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy declared that Russia "does not deserve" the lifting of international sanctions. His statement followed a major overnight Russian air assault. Ukrainian officials reported that nearly 700 drones and 19 ballistic missiles targeted the country. The cities of Kyiv, Odesa, and Dnipro were the main focus of the attacks. Separately, the European Commission will hold its first early talks with Hungary's incoming government. The meeting with new leader Péter Magyar is set for Friday in Budapest. A commission spokesperson called them "preliminary talks." The goal is to ensure quick action can be taken once the new government is fully formed. This dialogue aims to build a constructive relationship after years of political clashes with former prime minister Viktor Orbán. Magyar’s party recently won an election, ending Orbán's 16 years in power.
