Protesters Block NYC Traffic, 90 Arrested in Demo Against Israel Arms Sales
Approximately 90 people were detained in New York City on Thursday after protesters blocked a major Manhattan street.
The demonstration was organized to oppose U.S. arms sales to Israel. Participants sat down in the middle of Third Avenue in Midtown Manhattan, stopping traffic for nearly an hour.
Police moved in to clear the roadway. They arrested those who refused to leave.
The protest caused significant disruptions during the evening commute. It is part of a series of recent U.S. demonstrations focused on foreign military aid.
