Sid Krofft, Puppet Master of Psychedelic Kids' TV, Dies at 96
Sid Krofft, who created a wave of surreal children's television with his brother Marty, has died at 96.
The Krofft brothers produced a string of bizarre and colorful shows. Their programs mixed live actors with elaborate puppets and fantastical sets.
Their first major hit was "H.R. Pufnstuf" in 1969. The show's strange style made it a cult favorite, even with adults.
Other shows included "The Bugaloos," "Lidsville," and "Land of the Lost." Some were popular, while others failed quickly.
Sid Krofft's imaginative work left a lasting mark on children's entertainment. His visually "trippy" shows are still remembered today.
