**Dollar Weakness Opens "Golden Window" for China's Yuan, Says Ex-Central Bank Chief**

A former governor of China's central bank says global doubts about the U.S. dollar have created a prime chance to boost the international role of China's currency. Zhou Xiaochuan, formerly of the People's Bank of China (PBOC), called this a "golden window of opportunity." He made the statement in a report published by the Chinese think tank *New Economist*. Zhou argued that U.S. policy is the main force changing the global monetary system. He pointed to widespread American tariffs and the frequent use of financial sanctions as key factors weakening global trust in the dollar. This declining confidence, he suggests, makes it an ideal time for China to promote the use of the yuan in cross-border trade and investment.
