**Restaurant Rejects Fame, Closes Amid Overwhelming Crowds**
A restaurant owner in China has shut down his popular business after it went viral online, saying the sudden fame was too stressful.
The chicken pot restaurant in Foshan, Guangdong province, recently attracted huge crowds. At its peak, over 200 groups of customers faced wait times exceeding three hours.
The diner specializes in cooking chicken with Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbs, which are plants and natural substances used in a traditional system of health. However, its sudden popularity came from the owner's unusual reaction to it.
He posted a notice online saying he was "not cut out for this" and that the pressure was "unbearable." He then closed the restaurant temporarily to avoid the crowds. This move resonated with many young Chinese who advocate a "lying flat" attitude—a trend of rejecting intense work pressure and ambitious social competition.
The incident highlights a growing backlash against the "hustle culture" common in many fast-growing economies. For now, the owner says he needs a break from his unexpected and unwanted fame.
