Easter Ceasefire Fails as Russia and Ukraine Trade Blames
Russia and Ukraine have accused each other of violating a short Easter truce declared by the Kremlin. The accusations came as Orthodox Christians celebrated the holiday on Sunday amid the ongoing war. Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered a 32-hour ceasefire starting Saturday afternoon. He instructed Russian forces to halt all hostilities for the period. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had promised to follow the ceasefire. However, he warned that Ukraine would respond forcefully to any Russian attacks during the truce. Both sides now report that the other violated the agreement. Each claims the other carried out military actions during the supposed pause in fighting.
