Phishing Plunges, But Losses Double in Hong Kong
Hong Kong police report a sharp drop in phishing cases, but a shocking rise in total money lost.
Reported phishing scams fell by more than half last year. However, total victim losses doubled to HK$110 million (US$14 million).
A police warning accompanied the data. They stated that workers are still highly vulnerable.
This follows a city-wide simulation. Hundreds of organizations participated. More than 12% of employees clicked malicious email links. Nearly half of those then submitted personal data.
