Trump Threatens Hormuz Blockade, Strikes on Iran After Talks Fail

Former US President Donald Trump has declared the United States will begin a blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. The announcement follows the collapse of peace talks between the US and Iran held in Pakistan. Trump stated the move is an attempt to take control of the strategic waterway from Iran. The strait is a critical global shipping route for approximately one-fifth of the world's oil. The US president also repeated threats to strike Iranian infrastructure. He specifically mentioned potential targets like water treatment plants, power stations, and bridges. These actions, he said, would proceed unless Iran agrees to abandon its nuclear weapons program. That program was the main point of disagreement during the failed negotiations. Iran has warned that a US blockade of the strait would violate the current ceasefire between the two nations.
