Azerbaijan Reopens Tehran Embassy During U.S.-Iran Truce
Azerbaijan has reopened its embassy in Iran's capital, Tehran. The diplomatic post resumes work during a temporary, two-week ceasefire between Iran and the United States.
The embassy will start with a reduced team. Only essential diplomatic and administrative staff will be present initially.
The reopening follows a deadly armed attack on the embassy in January 2023. That incident forced Azerbaijan to suspend all operations at the site.
The resumption of embassy functions coincides with a reported halt in hostilities. The United States and Iran recently agreed to pause military actions for two weeks. This indirect truce was negotiated through mediators.
