Ex-Police Boss Reveals How Team Cracked Gilgo Beach Serial Killer Case
The former police commissioner who oversaw the Gilgo Beach investigation says a new taskforce "broke the case." This led to the identification of Rex Heuermann as the suspect.
Heuermann pleaded guilty last week to murdering seven women. He also admitted to an eighth murder. The hearing was in Riverhead, New York.
Rodney Harrison was not in the courtroom. But, as Suffolk County's police commissioner, he created the special team. This taskforce is credited with solving the long-running case.
Heuermann had dumped his victims' bodies in Suffolk County. Harrison was brought in as commissioner after serving as the New York Police Department's chief of detectives.
