Artemis II Astronauts Declared "Happy and Healthy" After Fiery Earth Return
The four astronauts of NASA's Artemis II mission are reported to be in good spirits and health following their spacecraft's intense re-entry into Earth's atmosphere.
The update came from Artemis II Entry Flight Director Rick Henfling. He confirmed the crew's condition after their Orion capsule successfully completed the high-speed, high-heat return phase.
This successful re-entry is a critical milestone. It validates the Orion spacecraft's heat shield, a key system needed for future missions aiming to return humans to the Moon.
The Artemis II mission, scheduled to launch no earlier than September 2025, will not land on the Moon. Instead, it will send the crew on a journey around the Moon and back, testing all spacecraft systems with humans on board for the first time.
