Artemis II Astronauts Return to Earth, Mission a Success
The four astronauts of NASA's Artemis II mission have returned home to Houston. This follows their safe splashdown in the Pacific Ocean on Friday night.
The crew capsule landed off the coast of San Diego, completing a critical test flight around the Moon. No humans have traveled that far into space since the Apollo program ended in 1972.
The astronauts are now beginning a period of detailed medical checks and mission analysis. Their journey tested NASA's new Orion spacecraft and life support systems.
The crew will share their experiences in upcoming public events. Their mission paves the way for Artemis III, which aims to land astronauts on the lunar surface.
Retired Lieutenant Colonel David Mahan, a space analyst, will provide further insight on CBS News.
