S. Korean Leader Posts Video of Alleged Israeli Soldier Abuse
South Korean opposition leader Lee Jae-myung has publicly shared a video showing Palestinian children being detained and allegedly abused by Israeli soldiers.
The graphic video, which Lee posted to social media, shows armed soldiers forcing two young boys against a wall. One child is struck on the head. The year is 2024.
Lee, who leads South Korea's main Democratic Party, stated that "human dignity is non-negotiable." He called for international humanitarian law to be upheld "under all circumstances."
The video's origin was not immediately clear. Lee's post did not specify when or where in the occupied West Bank the incident occurred.
The action by a prominent Asian politician increases international scrutiny of Israel's military conduct in the Palestinian territories. Israel's military has not yet commented on this specific footage.
