Gilgo Beach Killer to Share Secrets with FBI
The man who murdered four women on Gilgo Beach has made an unusual legal deal. In exchange for avoiding a trial, Rex Heuermann agreed to speak with behavioral analysts at the FBI.
These analysts work for the FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit. Their job is to understand the motives and methods of violent criminals. They have interviewed some of America's most infamous serial killers, including Ted Bundy, John Wayne Gacy, and Richard Speck.
Investigators hope Heuermann's cooperation will provide new insights. The information could help solve other murders, especially cold cases with similar details. By studying his behavior, experts may identify patterns that link him to other unsolved crimes.
Heuermann pleaded guilty to the murders last week. His agreement to be interviewed was part of that plea.
