Ex-AG Skips Epstein Hearing, Claims Subpoena Invalid
Former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi has refused to appear for a scheduled congressional interview regarding the Jeffrey Epstein investigation. The House Oversight Committee is probing the handling of the late financier's sex trafficking case.
Bondi's legal team, from the U.S. Department of Justice, stated she does not have to comply. They argue the subpoena was issued to her in her official capacity as attorney general, a role she no longer holds.
Committee lawmakers, however, assert the subpoena remains legally valid. They insist Bondi is still obligated to testify about her knowledge of events during her term.
The standoff highlights ongoing tensions as Congress seeks answers about Epstein's network and the initial failure to prosecute him fully.
